I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois and have a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Professional Psychology from Roosevelt University and a Master of Science degree in Gerontology from Kansas State University.
It is really important for me to collaborate with my clients in their care — my number one question is “what’s your goal?” I try to be as transparent and practical as possible, because I believe everyone’s time is valuable. I rely on a host of clinical interventions, and typically integrate cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral and solution-focused strategies into my work. I am also enormously interested in the impact of past trauma on my clients’ lives, which often becomes a focus of attention.
I have experience working in a psychiatric inpatient unit with suicidal and chronically mentally ill patients. I have also done a fair amount of counseling through employee assistance programs, and currently work in private practice where I conduct individual, couples’ and family therapy.
Other professional interests include working with individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, and individuals who have difficulty managing their emotions. I also immensely enjoy working with health care providers and caregivers of elderly patients.
I don’t write prescriptions for medications or conduct psychological testing, but I can provide you with referrals to professionals who do.
